It has been a strange/stess filled year. Have not had a vacation in years. I'm thinking on doing a 50 mile hike again. Been awhile, and the good clean air would do me well. Get my gear and lightweight fishing pole and just go. If anyone has any places in the west they think would be good for such a trip,...please suggest. I am starting to look around. Need 2 good friends to go also. Just not safe alone. I always have my son as a partner, but anyone is welcome.

One of my biggest passions is walking especially moor land and mountain areas. If only you where in the UK I am sure I could show you some great 50 mile walks np. Only extensive walking I have done in the West USA is in Yosemite. This is of little help just thought I would have my say...good luck in finding peace and tranquility. BTW be back for Friday night lol

Gimp,..sounds like you stay in pretty good shape,..and Captain,...I was thinking Yellowstone myself It would be good for the spirit Oh and the safety thing. Accidents happen. We do have wildlife [Jeff is a bit wild, but he isnt counted in this one],and there is always a possibility of a turned,or broken leg/ankle. ==================================== Hmmmmm,..looks okay Old Spanish Trail National Historic Trail In the early 1800s, the Old Spanish Trail was a primary route between California's Spanish missions and Santa Fe, New Mexico. The North Branch linked Santa Fe to trading outposts near Green River, Utah, through the San Luis Valley, Cochetopa Pass, and along the Gunnison and Colorado Rivers. Marcus Whitman used the North Branch on his famous ride to save Oregon for the Union.
Mountaineers like Kit Carson, traders like Antoine Leroux, and explorers such as Gunnison, Fremont, Heap, Beale, Marcy, and Brewerton traversed this trail www.coloradowest.org/hiking.htm
Fr8, those trails would be great. Mrs Gimp and I have been thinking about doing something similar this Summer, but not quite the distances you're talking about. It might be around Yellowstone, or Canada, we've not decided yet.
Either way, I'll bring my banjo along, just for Klutz.
