Well, I got my invite on January 18th - after applying for somewhere in the mists of time.
Looks like there letting a new batch flood through and a bigger one at that for ongoing crash testing before the floodgates get opened.
As for the game itself, apart from a few niggles with my mouse (fixed when using laptop so...err...don't know what that was), it's like 2000 all over again - servers full, plenty of instagib ones too. But then you know this already - you've all had beta keys since September

Thanks again former NastySnowman. I like QL allthough it looks better nothing seriously changed. Basicly it´s just Q3 pimped. I can't follow what everyone is saying cuz by the time I look at it it's gone. But in the end I'm still glad ya shared the invet
Can any help me with QL? My problem: I was registrations my email on www.quakelive.com , then i was waiting on my invite. Its was 3 weeks ago.. Few days ago i was put my new email, but nothin. I dont know what im do wrong. If you can help - please. Want to play it with my friends, but can't.

Ahhhh, I understand now. QLive has issued invites to the general public and you applied; no one personally sent you an invitation. If it is anything like when they originally started, it could take "weeks". Your friends that are already playing should be able to invite you. Most people had 10 people they could invite.... it might be best (and quicker) to have one of them invite you. I do not think I have any invites left, but I will look!
I have 10 more invites. I need your first/last name and email....please send me a private message.

By the way people. I played QL too and I had some fps issues in the beginning. I fixed them both, here is how:
first I noticed that com_hunkmegs was set to 56. That is how many mb of ram quake may use. I set it up to 512. Works a lot better now. 256 should be enough as well.
And then: I have a Pentium D processor. That means a dual core, two processors, weeeeee. And I noticed a long time ago that quake runs worse if I run it on both. So I use a program called SetAffinity. I let q3 and ql both run on only one processor. Gave me back my 125fps on full gfx settings on a high resolution in ql. To check if that works for you, just go to ctrl+alt+del, then look at the firefox process while playing, should take like very much memory. Rightclick > affinity > CPU0 only or CPU1 only. Or however many you have. Works for me. Good luck.

The Hunkmegs is in your "qzconfig". There are other things that can also be changed...rate...snaps..cl_maxpackets..all kinds of good things. It can be very confusing, QLive has done a very very good job of hiding everything. The Holysh1t site has all kinds of great info and tweaks. If you navigate around the site you can find all kinds of stuff. www.holysh1t.net/

Quake Live goes public.....
"First, we want to thank everyone who has been playing, testing, providing feedback, inviting friends and hopefully enjoying the QUAKE LIVE closed beta. We've grown considerably over the past 6 months and are now excited to announce that we're opening QUAKE LIVE to the general public as an open beta the evening of Tuesday, February 24th. On Monday morning (U.S. central time) we'll be taking beta.quakelive.com down for about 36 hours and then opening to the public at www.quakelive.com on Tuesday evening.
Coordinated with the open beta will be a stats wipe and pruning of player accounts, however we want to make it as easy as possible for all of you to transition over. On Monday, we will be deleting the player accounts of people that have not played in the last 28 days. If you have played within the past 28 days, you will lose your stats, but will NOT lose your player name, custom settings, profile information, etc.. When the site opens again on Feb. 24th, you will be able to use your current email address and password to login as usual. If you have friends that haven't played recently, but will want to maintain their account, let them know that they should play a game between now an Sunday. After Tuesday, we do not expect to ever completely wipe QUAKE LIVE player stats again."
