Hello Boyo's
Anone got views on the above?? i Have my Snaps set at 20, my rate at 25000 and maxfps rigged up to 200 I got rid of all the blood n guts and have no lagometer ....however i got an fps counter in the top right is that about right for a 1mb conection..and an ati 128?? gfx card
oh and i got a gig of memory in a battered old P4 i clocked up to 2ggz
runs ok though ...its not a SEON though
Tell me the truth...was it all poppers and weird sex?
It took me forever to come up with just the right combination for our servers. It all didn't seem to matter until I finally lowered my rate and raised my snaps. Not saying that it will work for you, but my rate is at 15000 and my snaps are at 30. I tried the same settings as you and it didn't work at all.
These setting work well on Gimps server too. I ping about the same there as you do on Jeff's server.
We also have an agreement on our servers that we won't run our fps any higher than 125.

I have found, with my internet speed, 25,000 is good for me, fps 125, makes it very solid for jumps and such, snaps 30-40, but what was missed here was cl_maxpackets. I have mine set high sometimes, other times lower, 50-80. Depending on the computer I am playing on. Oh, I always have my lagometer on. What is your up and down speeds?

I set my FPS at 125 max. I don't know what that will do but it seems to be the NastyClan standard. Snaps and rate I'm totally in the dark about. How do I check/set those?

Don't forget the stars: *NastyKatana* I also need to update your profile in here...which I will do later, it will prolly set a new password for you which you can change later... Anyway, in the console, type: /snaps /cl_maxpackets
Snaps by default I believe is 20, try 40, so: /snaps 40
Cl_maxpackets I believe is 30, try 50-60
Snaps= amount of "snapshots" you recieve from the server....that is the amount of "pictures" in frames. This should be set well with your FPS. Too high snaps, playability gets screwy....
cl_maxpackets= the amount of "packets" of information you recieve from the server. Pretty self explanitory....
Hood has tested this a lot, he is a good person to ask...

I had Soulseek, a filesharing program run a test and it told me, my maxpackets be 121, so I have set it to 120.
Snaps: 40 Rate: 25000 These both are good values for many connections to work with many servers. I don't ever change mine again. But, I tried once and my ping never improves anyway..

Thanx to *nasty-site*, I dwnld the "cable nut" internet enhancer my uploads are the same[3stars],but,... my downloads went from 2 1/2---to----> 4 1/2 stars!!
I know this is an older post but I happend upon it and had a read. If you have a broadband connection such as cable with a 3mb connection or higher your settings should be as such
Rate 25000 snaps 40 cl_maxpackets 100 com_maxfps 125 and above (mine is set to 200)
As I was reading threw this I had notice Auri said his cl_maxpackets were set to 120. Here is a bit of information for whom ever doesnt know, The maximum maxpackets that can be set for playing on the internet is 100. Anything above that is waist of time because q3a wont recognize it. The only time it will go above that is on a lan and then q3a defaults to 125. On a lan You could probably up your rate and snaps too.
If I can manage to find it ,there is an artical written on this specific subject for every type of connection to the internet and gives very good guide lines for network settings.

Ok I couldnt find the artical I was looking for. It was up to date with the 1.32 point release which made changes in the network protocal (68). This one I did find is relitively close and does give some good info.

Thanks for the link Kaus! Our Clan has restrictions for all of the mentioned above settings. We like to keep it fair. So, Shelby, you can now lower all of your settings to 1
