Just thought I'd pop in and say hi what with you all seeming to still be alive.... I'm considering a return to quake 3 at some point (even fired up my old houseofwibble server today lol). Everyone still playing lots of insta?
Well... Just thought I'd drop a line to everyone.
(p.s. Has anyone seen Penny in all this time? Her email seems to be dead ;/ )
I had a lan party recently and we played some q3..made me yearn for the 'good old days'.
Also, new gf seems interested in learning how to play : D
I should be getting a new connection in July that'll enable me to host decentish servers. Might play the odd game before then though... Will just have to see how knackered my q3 cds are : )

The Admins all have a level playing field. Not one can make a decision without another.... and no true clan decisions can be made without the clans approval. That is the way it is... however, I over-rule all, MUHAHAHAHA... however, I am never home, so I ain't chit......
Hi Klutz. I've been away for a good while too... Still not decided on playing it again...
Interesting /re the Admin stuff. I guess most of the clans I've been in have been quite small scale compared to how big Nasty seems to be, so it's quite a different world and all

aw shucks, we just a group of normal folk who like to play. That's how we last, it's a game, win or lose, which I do most of the time anymore. ( lose that is) We just have a certain friendship.
Yeah, see what you're saying Jeff. Still, you have to manage the masses somehow
I spoke to z00m the other day... She seems a lot happier now, which is good. Spoke to Zena on New Year too.. I think.. *drunken haze* And gimp once or twice a while ago.
Do people still play IU? I've heard there's a new version coming out soon or something? Or have you branched into new games? Just interested I guess... Have been out of the quake3 loop for a while...

Yep, still, UI. Some of us that are able to afford the new cards are playing other games as well. We will be doing a poll here in a bit to see what other game servers we should launch, and make it so. Yep. IU 2.0 is FINALLY going to be released. Here is some from an email the creator of it:
Although I have been unavailable for questions, and in general, very busy; I am writing this to assure you that IU2 is under development. I know some of you are concerned that I have given up on IU2, but I please know this is untrue.
I know I have been tardy on previous publicated release dates; but the official release date of IU2 is April 1st, 2005. I do not plan to answer any further questions about what will be included in the mod or give any more detail about the mod until it has been released.
I will say this: the new IU2 will contain nearly all your feature requests as well as numerous other new features; including new gameplay modes!
Regarding beta testing; beta tests will be conducted from my servers only. In March I will begin public beta testing. Dates will be released when I need to fill the servers. The last week of March I will release a beta to a limited number of servers for further public beta testing to make sure all bugs have been removed. If any bugs are found, this may delay the release release date.
If your proficient with developing mods; including graphics for mods (as in the UI, model, skins, etc), developing sounds, or coding and would like to help develop IU2, please post your information and skills in the new forum section labelled 'IU2 Developers'.
I am in need of people who are willing to help me during private beta testing. I need people I can contact without scheduling, to join the server and try to accomplish certain tasks in an effort to make sure everything is functioning correctly. If you are interested in this send your information (please include the name of your messaging program and your screenname) to: mods@digitaldelay.net. English Speakers Only (can't deal with a language barrier while trying to kill bugs).
Thank you all for your love and support!

Cool... Sounds very interesting. Perhaps I'll try it out.
Trying other games does seem a plan... I've not found anything I liked as much as quake3, but I found Savage to be a very good game. The teamplay element of it can be amazing when it works out. And I do have a slight love for the fantasy setting, I must admit. UT2004 still is pretty 'meh', but I've not tried the modes that give you access to all the vehicles/etc. Tribes should be great, but I've heard it's a bit of a let down....

Yep, Q3 is still the only good multiplayer game.
I play Doom3 occasionally, it really is awesome. But I'm waiting till I can get a better PC before trying to complete it, as it gets a bit choppy when the little rascals attack all at once, spoiling what could be even more scary than it is.
I'll get Grand Turismo 4 for my PS2 when it comes out in February.
D3 and PS2 games you have to wait ages for them to boot up, then get into it, etc.
So I vote for Q3 aaaallll the way. You can be watching telly, pop up to the bog to "drop the kids off at the pool" and then on the way back, just dive into the computer seat for just 5 or 10 minutes and have a quick frag session.
And THAT's why it's so good - it's like fast food, only better.
Noooooooooooooo.... Now everyone will know my real name
Yeah, that's one of the best things about q3 - you can just pick it up and put it down without even thinking about it. It's just been..........a LOT of years since I started playing and wouldn't mind something different.
I've just upgraded myself... It's such a nice difference to play doom3 in a decent graphics mode not have annoying slow down, I agree
The only game (aside from snes emulator fun) I've been playing recently is System Shock 2. I'm working on a few mods for it, actually. I've just joined a team for the Citadel Conversion Project, which aims to convert System Shock 1 into the 2nd game's engine. The other two are my own mods - a multiplayer TDM-style map for SS2 and a a huge FM...of which I've done no work on lately as the main building in it it's a bit too daunting a prospect.
Ah well, that's probably only of marginal interest even to people who like System Shock 2
