From the outside, crashes can be very intriguing at a primordial level and also in a gladiatorial sense. It's easy to understand that it's exciting to see the energy dissipating so flamboyantly, and a huge relief when you see the driver get out.
But when a friend of yours is in there, it's no so much fun. Particularly when they don't make it.
Sorry to be so philisophical, but that's the reality of it. Google for David Purley trying to save Roger Williamson if you really want to see the truth about it - not for the faint hearted.
On a lighter note, the instances that result in fatalities are usually very sudden and don't look like such bad accidents. This is because all of the energy is going into the driver in a sudden stop, rather than being lost over a long period of time as the car rolls over and over.

The fact that drivers have the balls to do what they do it what amazes me the most. Also, your professionalism shows on this post Gimp, well done. Gimp is all crazy and good fun~ but when it comes to his passion, he is all business. Here is his business: www.flatchat.co.uk/

WATCH THE ENTIRE THING! The slow motion at the end is insane. I like to watch crashes WHEN the guy is OK. I will not watch them when they are really hurt...so don't worry, he is OK...BRING ON THE X GAMES! www.liveleak.com/view?i=fc6_1186137624
