I have played on a Q3 FFA Beryllium server for many years. The group is folding its tent and turning out the lights next week. Hotshots and I want to continue the server but I'm not sure if I should continue with the current provider (escaped turkey) or go with another (Clanserve etc). Since this is my first attempt at managing a server, I thought I would ask the pros here.
The cost ranges from $10 - $20 per month, but that aside I'm interested in service etc.
have you contacted them asking about just taking it over, would be the easiest way to continue a server that obviously is to your liking or else it was years of torment

This is the Fear server that you have played on Jr. They are going to convert it to a Q4 server and allow me admin rights to convert it to Q3 when I want to use it. No cost to me.
ORRRR. They will set me up on another server with the same host and give me full admin rights. I'm thinking that when ET: Quake Wars comes out this year, the community might convert over or play both. Not like what happened with Q4.
Your advice is good tho - if it works - keep the same host.

What kind of speeds are you getting on your ISP. Another option, if you are fast enough, is just to do it out of your home. I use to ;ove running servers out of my house.
If they are closing up shop why cant they just give you the CFG for the sever so you can run your own instead of having to do it threw them. I'm tellin' you now your just lookin' to have problems down the road if you do it threw them. Mostly because your on there ticket.Your better off having your own server that way there are no conflicts.
