OK Klutz, here is my system. Missy's is going to be a little different than mine. I chose a stable processor for her, and the retail CPU cooler....but here is mine. OK, here we go..... Case-Coolermaster CM690:

I decided to take the plunge. Someone that works with Microsoft got a copy of Vista Ultimate 32/64 bit. So, I am willing to take the plunge and risk it. I WILL be the test wabbit. I do have a back up plan, it's called XP Pro if I am not happy, hehe. I figure with Vista being able to see my 8 gigs of ram, I should be just dandy. It would appear SP1 did a fine job to fix Vistas issues.
Trying Maxtor sata 500 gig hard drives also.... and I bought some utter stuff as well.

Jeffro-
I felt a little dirty looking at all the delicious images of your new rig........kind of like porn for gamer geeks. I'm not sure what that says about me.
I absolutely love the Power Supply! It has no cables connected to it, you only connect the ones you need. This eliminates the need to reroute all of those extra cables inside of your case which screws with the airflow and just looks bad. The cables that are sent with it are slim and sexy. Not a bunch of small wires wrapped up; I never understood why companies didn't make the better. Also, it has 8 pin PCIexpress connectors, what appears the be the future with gaming cards. Here's a pic of the back of what I will be getting:
I ordered items from 3 companies. Tiger, Newegg and Provantage. For the first time,I can say I am very disappointed with Tiger. Most of the items from the other companies will be delivered today; Tiger has not even shipped it yet! They say that their warehouse is backed up, not my problem; they should figure that out themselves. I have never used or heard of Provantage, they shipped my items within 2 hours of ordering, that is impressive.

Well, all the parts are in except for my CPU and Missy's memory. Sooooo...... I spent the last couple of hours building Missy's. All that is left is to do a professional wire tucking job, add memory and load that puppy up. The power supply is amaxing, and big. It is like a smoked chrome case....too bad it is hidden in a case.

LOL!! I have definitely lost my mind. It has been crazy here with Jeff away and X-mas just a few days away. To top it off we had some snow Friday which turned to ice and closed the schools. But anyway the computer parts are still packed away. Jeff won't be home until tomorrow night as long as the weather is good and his flight is on time. Sooo, I am sure he will be building the systems on X-mas Eve and then he will be back in Quake world.

Great stuff Jeff really nice , one question though. Why didn´t you go for the 1K powersupply?
650 Watt or greater power supply with one 2x3-pin PCIe® power connector and one 2x4-pin PCIe® power connector is required (1K Watt with two 2x3-pin and two 2x4-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)1
You have the crossfire motherboard so if (if there ever will be a game that requires it) if you should dicide to go for the 2nd 4870 you could get short on power. Not trying to spoil the fun though becouse this system will fly like there's no tomorrow The benefit of this rigg is (I built the same one for my son only dualcore and 2x4850) you can turn the house heating down or off lol. works superbly when having cold feet.

I have extra cables, some are "Y"'s to connect two items instead of one. They sent over 10 pounds of cables, teehee. I know Nvidias high end cards require PCI Express 8 pins , but the ATI's still do not. There should be enough of power to run as many cards as I need...I think. And, the 1k version was a hundred dollars more, Missy would have killed me!

When my bank’s IT manager announced he was buying components to build his own gaming machine, my ears perked and he agreed to send me the specs. Would you guys scan this and tell me if this would be up to the task? What are the shortcomings?

Well, they are built and they fly! Two issues: Razer copperhead mouse will not work correctly for us. They load fine, work good; but on a cold boot up, they no longer work. Tried EVERYTHING, updates, different usb ports, hours of frustration. Came to the conclusion; since we both use different operating systems but the same boards; they must not play nice with the boards...damn. So, we ordered 2 G5's; anyone want a couple of copperheads? The other issue is mine. I am using 1680x1050 resolution with my monitor; quake 3 just looks so-so. I tried the widescreen stuff this morning: r_mode 1 r_customwidth 1680 r_customheight 1050 This just made q3 show up in my upper left hand corner of my monitor. I am sure I am doing something wrong; but what? Please help me with this. Other than that, very awsome. Scored a perfect 5.9 across the board with Vista. Well, take care!

Think I got the resolution figured out....just looks grainy now. If I check setup resolution in the setup menu, it shows the least resolution, but it doesn't look like I am using that setting..... need new mousy still. Was kind of hoping for a crystal clear screen....the game is old though....unless I am doing something wrong....
jeff did u flash the mouse to the newset firmware, first dl the newest software an the newsest errr call me i can walk ya thru it if u still have my number
