Gimp...it has been proven by your screenshots... you have issues. I did some checking... this happens on 2 occasions... 1- a sound of something dropping your soundcard isn't initializing 2- a bad configuration between the game and your soundcard
there are lots of possible fixes... Update your soundcard drivers- might fix... or if you did update, try going back to the original
soundcard driver might be double loaded
uninstall and reinstall Q3
in your bios, if you have onboard sound and are using a soundcard... did you disable onboard?
I could go on and on.... what you need to ask yourself... when did this start? What did I do before it started? ( install/uninstall) track it down, I am sure you will find it..... you a smart gimp

Woah - what's this blue forum thing? LOL!
Yeah I figured "dropping sound" wasn't meant to be the sound of something dropping onto the ground, but the sound was being dropped from the game
So I have bought myself a new sound card. It rocks, and does surround sound and stuff. I just need to get some new speakers now so that I can play the game properly!
Just you wait for my QSound surround virtual baloney thingamejig sound and I'll kick your butt!
